Hinting
at the formation of a third front, former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal ( RJD) patron Lalu Prasad Yadav on Friday said all
like-minded secular parties would soon come on a single platform to oust the
Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party government from the Centre.
"It
has become incumbent on all like-minded secular parties to come together to
oust the BJP from the Centre before it was too late and the country was divided
on communal lines," said Lalu, after attending the swearing-in ceremony of
Mamata Banerjee as the Chief Minister of Bengal for the second consecutive
time.
"If
we don't unite on time, the BJP and the Sangh will divide the country. And
thus, leaders of all such parties will meet soon with a single aim to oust the
BJP government," he added.
When
asked who would be the leader of the front, he shot back to the media, saying
let us meet first and then we will take a call on the leader.
When
asked for the date of the meeting, he said he was not a party spokesman who
would announce the date. He, however, said they would meet after rain lashes
the country.
Congratulating Mamata Banerjee for her second term and a
resounding victory in the recently-concluded assembly elections, Lalu said,
"After the people of Bihar voted the 'Mahagathbandhan' to power, the
people of Bengal gave a wonderful victory to Mamata Didi."
"It
was a strategy of the Sangh and BJP to enter Bengal via Bihar, which was
defeated by the people of Bihar and Bengal. I congratulate Mamata didi for her
victory.
Meanwhile,
addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said, "The Federal Front or the Fourth Front
or the Third Front is the permanent mirage of Indian politics. This is a
pretense which is being said from decades. It comes to the fore several times
but vanishes from the picture on its own."
