Dubbing the Mathura incident as 'unfortunate', Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday assured help and support to the family of slain Superintendent of Police Mukul Dwivedi.
"The government did not want the death of the women and the children. The government's intention is very much clear. It is with the family of the victims. We will surely give support to them. Mukul's wife has got a job and she has asked for shelter as well. I will look into it. She wants the children to be taught somewhere near Delhi, the government will consider that too," he said.
Stating that he had ordered a judicial probe in the Mathura land-grab matter, Akhilesh said there shouldn't be politics on any incident.
"You (BJP Government) are pointing finger at us. Many incidents have taken place in your states. We haven't pointed finger at you. Everything will get revealed in the investigation," he said.
In Mathura, 25 civilians and two senior cops were killed due to the armed conflict between squatters and the police at the Jawahar Bagh public park on June 2.
BJP president Amit Shah had yesterday on the first day of his party's national executive meeting in Allahabad raised the issue of lack of development and governance in Uttar Pradesh.
At the same time, Shah pointed out that there was an atmosphere of violence prevailing in the state and cited the recent Mathura and Kairana incidents to tarnish the Samajwadi Party Government's image.
