AfghanPresident Ashraf Ghani today said that Afghan Hindus have the
same rights as any other Afghans citizens in the country and promised to
address their issues.
After Eid al-Fitr
prayers at the Presidential Palace, Ghani met the Hindu and Sikh community
here.
" Hindus have the same rights as other Afghans.
We will address their problems," Tolo News quoted him as saying.
His remark comes
after reports indicated that close to 99 percent of Hindu and Sikh citizens of
Afghanistan have left the country over the past three decades.
The remaining Hindu
and Sikh residents despite facing problems said they are trying to continue with
their lives in Afghanistan as they are optimistic about the country's future.
Meanwhile, Ghani
praised the security forces for their efforts in ensuring security in the
country.
"Afghan forces
sacrifice their lives to ensure security of the country," Ghani said.
He reiterated that
war has been imposed on Afghanistan.
The Afghan President
also condemned the attack in Medina and called it an "insult to Islam and
Muslims".
