Kalam was the first technocrat President of India. He was chosen for the post in 2002, during the government of BJP patriarch Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Ahead of becoming the President, Kalam earned the nickname of ‘Missile Man’, for designing the first nuclear weapon of India.
He continued to remain in Office till 2007. Kalam is considered to be the most grounded Indian President ever. He used to meet dozens of common people on daily basis to hear their grievances. During his tenure, he also arranged for maximum amount of sessions with students, ranging from schools to colleges, in order to motivate them.
