Tennis: Wimbledon 2016: Novak Djokovic knocked out in the third round by Sam Querrey

The Serb suffered a four-set loss.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic has been knocked out of the 2016 Wimbledon Championships, losing to Sam Querrey of USA 7-6 6-1 3-6 7-6 in the third round of the competition.
The opening set, that occurred on Friday, saw Querrey bring out his most effective power game to the court. With a combination of pinpoint accuracy and big serves, he put the Serb under enormous pressure, holding his nerve to clinch the set in a tie-break 7-6.
The next set saw the American grow in confidence as he dominated the World No. 1, not allowing him to settle down any point. He was all over Djokovic who in turn looked lifeless and flat, as Querrey stormed ahead to bag the set 6-1.
Thankfully for the World No. 1, rain came to his rescue and with him being two sets down, the match was called off for the day.
Saturday saw the Serb make a fine comeback into the contest, showing his trademark prowess that he is known for around the world. He went up 5-0 before Querrey staged a mini-comeback, but Djokovic eventually sealed the set 6-3 to stay in the contest.
The fourth set saw both players fail to break each other’s serve despite having multiple break points, until the Serb succeeded in the 9th game to go 5-4 up. But the American it seemed was determined to finish it off, breaking the Serb back immediately to make it 5-5. He then made it 6-5 before rain once again came to the reigning champion’s rescue.
But once the match resumed, Querrey was quick to finish off things in the tie-break 7-6, thereby pulling off the second major upset in this edition in two days.
