Yesterday, post India's historic win over Australia, with Kohli-Anushka and Kohli-Australia trolls buzzing continuously, I logged on to Facebook and Twitter to congratulate and praise the team, especially Kohli, on my behalf and I saw something magical.
The feed was full of praises for Kohli in the same manner in which the legend, self-made God, Sachin Tendulkar used to be adored. This left me astonished.
The match summaries were nothing albeit proclamation of Virat's innings.
Some people were referring to him as 'God' by which I was taken aback.
A post on Facebook by a friend Sanjay Nair said:
"I don't do this often. I know the man himself doesn't really know of my existence. I am proud to say, however, as a tiny part of a collective heartbeat - I have seen God, and he wears No. 18. Mere words cannot express the gratitude I have towards you Sir. It is my greatest honour to have seen you play. Virat Kohli. Love. Now and Always."
This love, honour and adoration left me in bewilderment and unable to digest it I saw that innings again at 3 in the morning. And yes, he is really a GOD on the verge of transformation. He is not second Sachin, he is Virat, first of his name and first of his kind.
On 19th March, amidst the India-Pakistan match you bowed to God, and he bestowed his enlightenment in your body.
Kudos Virat Kohli for everything you did yesterday and the days before. And hearty thanks for what is yet to come.
On a funnier note, even Sachin himself must have been jealous yesterday after that remarkable innings.
Yet, I will worship both the Gods, the old and the NEW till the end of time.
