Clashes over path of procession of Ram Navami, curfew in Bokaro







Clashes between two groups during the Ram Navami procession in Jharkhand.
Communal tension, arson and violent clashes are reported, curfew imposed in Bokaro.


A person has died in Pandu area of Keredari police station of ​​Hajaribagh, where in Bokaro dozens of people injured, including the deputy commissioner.

Police is trying hard to control the communal tension in Chatra area, and has detained many persons.

The Deputy Commissioner of Bokaro, Mahimapt Ray has said that curfew has been imposed in Sector-12, Marafari, Balidih and Bokaro Steel City Police Station area.

Additional police force has been deployed to maintain peace in the area.

The Police Superintendent (SP) has said that patrolling has been intensified and over a dozen persons have been detained.

The violence broke out when members of a particular community tried to stop the procession from passing through their areas at Siwandih. This led to a clash between them and Ramnavami revellers for half an hour. Traffic on NH-23 was disrupted.


Meanwhile, Hazaribagh SP Akhilesh Jha has told that one person died during the Ram Navami procession clashes between two groups in Pandu village.

Angry mob has set fire to several houses and shops. The present situation is under control. Many people have suffered injuries in clashes.
DIG and SP, including the district police chief and police forces are camping there to bring the situation under control.
