Curfew imposed in Handwara town; Death toll mounts to 3




            




With death of another person the toll mounts to 3, from a firing incident in Jammu & Kashmir's Kupwara district, as another critically injured civilian has died, according to officials.



Raja Begum, 54, who had been admitted to the super specialty hospital of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar on Tuesday, succumbed to a critical bullet injury.


Earlier on Tuesday, twenty two year old Muhammad Iqbal and twenty one year old Nayeem Bhat had died after a clash between the security forces and a stone pelting mob.

The trouble breaks out after locals alleged that a girl has been molested by an Army jawan in the town.

Curfew has been imposed in Handwara after further increase in tension due to receiving of the report of death of another civilian.

Appeals for a shut-down by separatist leaders in protest against Handwara firing, authorities on Wednesday imposed restrictions in six police station areas of Rainawari, Nowhatta, Khanyar, MR Gunj, Safa Kadal and Maisuma in Srinagar city.

The restrictions will not apply on Sikhs community, because of Baisakhi. They are free to move in the area placed under restrictions according to District magistrate Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone. 

The two youth killed are expected to be buried today.
