At least 55 people were killed and 8 injured in
lightning in different districts of Bihar, as the monsoon rain lashed the state
on Tuesday.
Disaster management department principal secretary Vyasji confirmed the deaths.
Vyasji said that the government would provide Rs 4 lakh compensation to the next kin of each victim.
Nalanda, Aurangabad, Rohtas and Purnea were the worst hit districts of the state.
Monsoon rains have been lashing Bihar from Tuesday evening and thunderbolts are striking at regular intervals.
