Over 40 lakh pilgrims have performed Goverdhan Parikrama so
far in Mudiya Poono fair and the influx of devotees is increasing.
"At least 40 lakh pilgrims have performed circumbulation of hillock Goverdhan so far," Mela Officer A K Awasthi.
He said no untoward incident has been reported in the fair.
He agreed with the view that the influx of the pilgrims would have been more but somebody falsely wrote on Facebook Goverdhan was in floods.
"Post about floods in Goverdhan on Facebook has prevented many to come to Goverdhan," he stated.
Meanwhile, saints lead by Mahamandaleshwar Sanvaria Baba have criticised the district administration for not countering the false information promptly.
"Prompt action against mischief-doer who had posted that Goverdhan is in flood, should have been taken by the district administration. It has confused many who avoided to come Goverdhan," Baba said.
He questioned the increase in bus fair to Goverdhan from Mathura.
"Since buses are not terminating at the bus stand, there is no justification in increasing the bus fare," he said adding he may go to high court over alleged mismanagement of the fair.
