Four hours of terror for the minister's family have been caught in CCTV footage and videos taken on the mobile phones of those arrested after the violence that marked the start of weeks of protests for Jat quota in jobs and education.
A CCTV clip shows the minister's wife and 10-year-old child running for their lives as an angry mob chases them down the street. The family had been trapped inside the bungalow since the wild crowd surrounded it at around noon.
One of the mobile phone clips show Captain Abhimanyu's home in flames, thick black smoke rising up. Against that backdrop, the mob is seen celebrating and distributing sweets. "Khushi manao (let's celebrate)" they tell each other.
The mob kept coming back for the next two days until the two-storey bungalow - located in one of Rohtak's most upscale areas - was burnt to the ground.
"The house burnt for nine days. Every single object, memory, record was wiped out. Even the ceiling fans melted," Captain Abhimanyu told NDTV.
"It was a political conspiracy to wipe out my entire family," said the finance minister, alleging that mostly Congress workers were in the mob.
Haryana's BJP government has charged former Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda's one-timepolitical secretary Prof Virender with conspiracy to provoke the violence.
On the day of the attack, three people died in police firing on one of the mobs out in thestreets and the army was called in to Rohtak and other worst affected areas.
