Union Railways
Minister Suresh Prabhu will dedicate to the nation an 81-km
long new railway line between Sonepat and Jind and will flag off a passenger
train between these two stations from Chandigarh on Sunday.
Prabhu will also
launch a number of other passenger-centric projects from Chandigarh Railway
Station through video conferencing.
Other projects to be
launched from Chandigarh included new Foot-over-Bridge at Platform No. 4 and 5
at Railway Station, Sonepat and inauguration of a mechanized laundry in
Chandigarh.
The laundry would
cater requirement of linen for entire Ambala division.
Apart from this,
foundation stone of Coaching-cum-Maintenance Facilities at Railway Station,
Chheharta near Amritsar would also be laid.
While the foundation
stones of additional traffic facilities would be laid at the Chandigarh Railway
Station, that of 17 lift and 10 escalator facilities would be laid at different
railway stations.
Apart from this,
foundation stones of 37 Limited Height Subways in the states of Punjab and
Haryana would also be laid.
